Date Description Time
04.01.13 Installed ign 2 sw in new position. Replaced one of the batteries (it would'nt take a charge). Removed TP-45 modules from firewall. 2.50
04.01.12 Removed master switch.  Made plate to cover the hole and to put the ign2 switch instead.  Moved the ess bus switch. Removed the two test switches.  Installed master switches left of the ess bus switch. 2.50
04.01.11 Connected batteries. Tested system.  Found that the single master switch circuit I have is a bad idea because when batteries are not at same voltage, current goes through the coils and can close the master solenoid. 4.00
01.01.07 Completed battery support. Ready for wiring. 2.00
01.01.06 Worked on battery support - Made reinforcement for the extrusions. Installed one support angle and installed nutplates on it. 1.50
01.01.04 Worked on battery support 2.00
01.01.03 Worked on battery support 3.00
01.01.02 Finished battery tray. Worked on the fuselage opening. 4.00
04.01.01 Designed and made battery tray (not yet completed) 3.00
03.04.04 Connected pilot PTT 1.00
03.03.17 Completed electrical in front of firewall 5.00
03.03.16 Completed wiring of ignition system.  Finalized attachment of fat wires.  Made connector for main bus feed wire and attached it to the ANL current limiter, which I also installed.  Tested battery contactors with master switch and test switches… everything is working fine.  6.00
03.03.15 Started to wire the ignition control modules and coils.  Installed cable supports on radiator mount.  Updated ignition circuit diagram in wire book. 5.00
03.03.14 Attached ground wires on cabin side of firewall.  Connected fan and boost pump.  Identified EIS wires.  Passed wires through firewall.  Made wire support on radiator support.  After discussion with Grand Rapid, installed a relay to select the tachometer source (it will read from the activated ignition).  Moved the ignition power bus.  Not electrical, but installed and safety tied the landing gear top plate bolts.  Found parts for oil recovery system and air intake. 12.00
03.03.13 Installed OAT sensor.  I previously cut the 4.8V exciter wire from the EIS.  Not good as it is needed for the LP fuel sender.  I restored that.  I passed the engine wires through the firewall and installed the alternator contactor, shunt, ANL current limiter, capacitors, ground bus and ignition bus.  I also made and installed all the fat wires.  I spent some of the morning shopping for parts at Arrow aviation. 8.00
03.02.24 Found how to position the ignition stuff.  Went shopping for parts. 5.00
03.02.23 Spent a major portion of the day looking for ignition wires.  I bought a universal kit from ACCEL (at Canadian Tire) and I made the two short (about 6 inches) pieces that I needed to link the coils to the coil selector.  I also changed one end of my NGK distributor wire.  I installed the coils, coil selector and starter contactor to realise that the coils were just above the gear leg... not good!  I removed everything and I'll do it again tomorrow.  One thing I realised today is that a gromet is not really good for passing the battery cable through the firewall.  I'll have to find something else. 14.50
02.10.20 Installed and wired the fuel pump warning system.  Installed the PTT diode for the Navaid.  Updated the wire book for actual fuse rating and bus loading. 2.50
02.10.14 Over the weekend I completed most of the wiring job behind the panel.  I have to replace the temporary wire clamps by permanent ones. And I have to add the OVM and wire to the alternator field. 12.00
02.10.09 Started to make AP connection + tested OK 1.00
02.10.08 Connected wires for panel lights. 2.50
02.10.07 Connected some wires in on lights control module. 0.50
02.09.06 Tested trim tab circuits with elevator and aileron.  I had to reverse the two switches and one indicator, but electrically speaking, everything was perfect. 0.75
02.09.03 Assembled trim wire bundle in a female connector 2.00
02.08.20 Installed ground wires on sub panel and dressed sub panel wires.  Also installed ign wires and starter wire. 2.50
02.08.19 "Dressed" wire bundles.  Changed many wires for re-routing. 3.00
02.08.18 Yesterday, my father in law told me about a failure he had in a previous car.  14 months after a repair, he had an electrical failure on a circuit because two wires were crossing each other.  The insulation used up until a short circuit happened.  I looked at my installation where the wire bundle split in three exiting the fuse blocs and found that my installation would be prone to the same type of failure.  Therefore, I decided to re-wire several circuits in order for all wires to use the same path and avoid crossing each other. 3.00
02.08.14 I received my new switches from B&C.  Yes, I decided when I was in Oshkosh that I did'nt like the plastic lighted ones I originally purchased.  This evening, I made anti-rotation templates for the switches and replaced the ones in the top panel. 2.00
02.08.08 Worked on wire book 3.00
02.07.23 Made fuel pump warning system 3.50
02.07.21 Replaced landing/taxi wires with longer ones to avoid stress on the switches 1.50
02.07.01 Worked on wiring of inst. Panel 4.00
02.06.30 Installed channel supporting transponder.  Connected most wires coming from left side bundle. 5.00
02.06.29 Finished fuse panel 2.00
02.06.28 Worked on wiring for fuse panel 4.00

02.04.23 Completed running of wires on right side of centerwing. 3.00
02.04.22 Started to install wiring in right side centerwing.  My plan was to run a spare 16awg wire, but I realized I forgot the strobe power supply power wire… oups!  I think I have that one now, but no spare! 2.25
02.04.21 Completed rear fuselage electrical and cleanup garage 6.00
02.04.20 Worked on electrical (fuselage) 4.00
